Who we are

FF72 and fire

At Positive Aviation, we believe that aviation is a force for good for our society and our environment.

Our mission is driven by three key observations:

  • Water Scooper FireFighter aircraft are vital and irreplaceable instruments for fighting forest fires. Ensuring their longevity and expanding their use globally is a priority and an effective way to adapt to and combat climate change.
  • The iconic “Canadair” aircraft, the only plane of its kind, no longer meets reliability and availability requirements. With its production having ceased, it allows for neither fleet renewal nor expansion.
  • None of the projects announced over the past decade – whether to remanufacture the Canadair or develop a new aircraft of this type – are considered enough for the market needs. This is due to technological challenges, the necessary funding, but most importantly, the saturation of the aerospace sector facing its own imperatives for production growth.

Positive Aviation aims to offer them as early as 2028, an alternative – a new, modern, reliable, and efficient amphibious water scooper firefighter aircraft – the FF72-S, complemented by on-wheels tanker version for effective combined water and retardant based operations.

Positive Aviation is an engineering and industrial company, developing and implementing modifications on second-hand ATR 72, transforming them into fixed wing firefighting aircraft with two variants – the FF72-S amphibious water scooper and the FF72-T indirect attack aircraft optimized on retardant mission. The FF72 leverages proven technologies and combines expertise from both the aeronautical and naval industries.

From development to operations, Positive Aviation is committed to supporting the entire lifecycle of the FF72, ensuring its long-term success.

Positive Aviation’s headquarters are located at Toulouse Blagnac Airport, inside Hangar H16, where the FF72-S-X1 demonstrator is currently assembled, set for its first flight in 2026.
